Norwegians to Enter Turkey With National ID Cards Temporarily
Turkey has temporarily allowed Norwegian people to enter the country using only their national identity cards, according to the Turkish Foreign Ministry.
According to Tanju Bilgiç, a ministry spokesperson, the decision was taken "to enable Norwegian citizens to visit Turkey during tourism season of 2022."
Tanju Bilgiç said that during the Norwegian Foreign Minister's visit to Ankara, no agreement was signed between Turkey and Norway. He underlined that Norwegian citizens could not extend their passports due to the worldwide chip crisis, and therefore, they were allowed to travel with an identity card for a temporary period of time. Stating that Norwegian citizens will travel to Turkey with their ID cards for 6 and a half months, Bilgiç said that Norwegian citizens will be able to travel to Turkey with their passports after the expiry of the said period.
