Karlama pleasure in Alanya
What is Karlama, how is Karlama made?
These days, when the air temperature reaches 39 degrees, the local people, who take the road to the Taurus Mountains and store the snow from the caves in the Taurus Mountains at an altitude of 1,600m - 2000m, seem to have found a solution to the summer heat in Alanya.
So how is "Karlama" done?
The stored snow is first thinned with tools such as knives or cleavers and then added to the plate. Then it is mixed with natural foods such as sherbet, yoghurt, molasses or honey and eaten with pleasure. Everyone living in Alanya must taste this beverage, which is very famous in Alanya and its region.
On a hot summer day, taking a 5-minute break in Alanya city center or on the beach and eating Karlama protects our body from the heat, while helping us to collect the minerals we lose during the day, as well as the minerals contained in foods such as yogurt, molasses, and honey.
