Together with the first international plane arriving to Gazipaşa airport, a new page has been opened on tourism. After the first flight breaking all prejudgements, a lot of flight firma’s have taken action to arrange flights.
The 20 year dream of the district got real. Transavia’s 737-700 type plane, flying with neckermann, made a very easy and safe arrival at the Gazipaşa airport. The middle sized plane will go into history as the biggest plane to land on Gazipaşa airport until now. After this flight that proves also middle sized planes can land on Gazipaşa airport, hopeful declerations were made. The director in Alanya of the Turkish Travel and Agency Group (TÜRSAB) Ayhan Kaya, declared that with the landing of this plane the district is now developing faster again. Kaya did also apply for flights with Corendon and waiting for approval. Kaya: ‘I think the attention of all tour operators bringing tourists to the district of Antalya will be drawn to Gazipaşa. I believe that in the days ahead of us, planes from Poland and Russia will also start to come. For us international flights are more important than national flights. They both weigh different.’ He added: ‘I want the involved persons to work on a longer airstrip.’

WE DID OUR JOB
The party leader of AKP (Adalet Kalkınma Partisi) in the district said to be happy to open the airport, of no use before, for service: ‘The airport was a set left behind. After AKP got power in the district, there have been important work done at the airport. It has been opened and TAV takes care of the direction. Borajet started national flights for the first time during the rule of AKP. To Neckerman an approval for landing has also been given. Everyone in the district, especially working in tourism, should take care of the airport. This airport is one of the most important investments in our district. If the airport should be developed even more, we as a party will do wathever is needed. Working hand in hand with people working in tourism and tour operators, we are obligated to satisfy the tourists. I also want to thank our superiors who signed for important works during this period. I also want to thank the politicians who did what they could each seperately.’

IT WAS A HOPEFUL FLIGHT
The governor of Gazipaşa Muhittin Pamuk told about the importance of the first plane coming from outside the country to the airport for Gazipaşa, Alanya and Anamur. Pamuk, also revealing that the pilot flew another time over the airstrip to test the airport, said the following: ‘It is very hopeful to the district of Gazipaşa, Alanya and Anamur. This was the first flight to Gazipaşa from outside the country. We waited for the tourists with the organisation we prepared. It was an important beginning. We wish for this to continue in the following period.’
